The Little Harbor Boathouse is New England's first designated open water rowing and paddling center. Come enjoy open water rowing along the East Coast from our wonderful facility in Old Town Marblehead, Massachusetts. We support non-profit Salem Sound Coastwatch as Environmental Stewards for Gas House Beach on Little Harbor -- our idyllic launch spot!  Come join us to row, paddle & take care of Salem Sound!

The Little Harbor Boathouse is Marblehead’s only year-round, secure boat storage facility offering learn-to-row, coached rows, private rowing shell storage with direct access to Gas House Beach, Little Harbor, Brown's Island, Gerry Island and Salem Sound. Take advantage of our waterfront location for easy access to open water rowing on the New England Coast and launch your rowing scull from the best spot in Marblehead.

Join the Echo Open Water Rowing Team, compete in open water endurance races including the Blackburn Challenge, Jamestown Counter Revolution and Soundkeepers Lighthouse to Lighthouse Races.

ECHO Rowing Shells

Browse and test the full line of lightweight ECHO Rowing Shells – ideal for open water rowing on the East Coast. Come demo the Echo, Islander or Ace Racing Shell before purchasing your own high-performance boat.

Little Harbor Rowing Shell Storage

Little Harbor Boathouse offers a limited number of private rowing shell and small boat storage. Rates include:
  • Dry, secure, boat rack storage
  • Off-Street Parking (40 Doaks Lane, Little Harbor Offices)
  • Access to restrooms & indoor hose
2010 IN-SEASON PRIVATE RACK MEMBERSHIP: $350 per boat per rack through October 31*
Restricted Key Access allows you to paddle and row on your time schedule, 7 days per week!
*one rate for the season, no matter when you start; non-refundable, non-transferable.

RACK SPACE BY THE MONTH: $100 per boat per rack per one month of summer storage: June, July, Aug, Sept. Visiting Marblehead?  Space permitting this is a great option.

WINTER SEASON STORAGE SPECIAL (In-Season Storage Members only):  $99 per boat per rack

WINTER SEASON STORAGE 2010-2011 (non-members):  $150 per boat per rack (November 1 - April 30); no restricted key access.

Rack space is limited!  First-come, first-paddle & row!  Launch from the tranquil spot MARBLEHEAD.

Maximum weight: 70 lbs.  Maximum width:  4'.  Minimum Length:  at least 8'.  You must be able to rack it yourself. 

Payment due in full on signing of contract.  Payment is non-refundable; non-transferable.  There is restricted key access to the Boathouse.
$100 refundable lost key deposit required.

    Directions to the Little Harbor Boathouse in Marblehead:  Washington Street to Orne Street. Walk down Orne Street forking right on to Gas House Beach Lane (on the right; just before the hill); cross over/under the chain & walk down the paved lane on your immediate right to the double doors (behind 40 Doaks Lane).  ALL PARKING is at Little Harbor Offices lot at 40 - 80 Doaks Lane, Marblehead, MA.
